In loving memory of our mom, Jennie H. Cordova, who passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the age of 90. Born on May 18, 1933, to Onesimo and Susie de Hererra in Cuba, New Mexico. Jennie was the first of five children. She was the devoted wife of Roberto L. Cordova for 57 years and loving mother of Valarie, Randy, Jaimie and Chuck. Jennie has been greeted in heaven by her parents, her brother, Leroy, her husband, daughter, and son, Jaimie, as well as numerous other friends and family.
Our mom was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge and hardship in her life with a quiet courage and dignity. Mom was always there with a delicious hot meal or a quick backhand, whichever was needed for the occasion. Her kids and home were always spotless, but our dad was often called "cochino" when he'd sneak by mom and pat her butt. We'll all miss her red chili, tamales, empanaditas and biscochitos!
Growing up, mom was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or just a shoulder to cry on, usually because she or dad had just given us some well-deserved discipline. She was a woman of strong faith (Her final words were "Our Father who art" as she was given last rights) and instilled in us the importance of hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to.
Jennie is survived by two brothers, one sister, two sons, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1502 Sarah Rd SE in Rio Rancho, with interment immediately following at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jason Cordova, Phillip Chavez, Erik Cordova, Jeremy Cordova, Isaiah Cordova, and L'ogenn Cordova as well as Marcos Cordova - honorary pallbearer.
Mom, you will always be in our hearts, we will never forget you and we know you are watching over us even now. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
