Jeannette Marie (Baker) Keim

Jeannette Marie Baker Keim, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 17, 2024, at the age of 87.

Jeannette was born to Austin and Theresa Baker in Erie, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1936. She is survived by her husband Carl D. Keim and their four children Elizabeth Marie Keim, Jeanmarie Keim PhD, Kathryn Marie Keim, and Carl D. Keim, Jr; and a granddaughter Jeannette Danielle Keim. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jack Baker. Jeannette graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Erie, PA in 1954. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with distinction, in Studio Arts in 1988 from the University of New Mexico, and her Master's degree in Counseling, with distinction, from Webster University in 1997.

Jeannette's art focused on the abstract expression of features found in landscapes and the patterns seen in the layers of the earth. The earth's layers, deposited over the millennia, remind us that our composition is also layered by the times through which we have passed. Her works were shown in various juried art shows throughout New Mexico and the United States.

Jeannette served as a licensed mental health counselor at the Vista Care facility in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and various other organizations in southeast Arizona. Her work included family, group, and individual counseling for mental illness, substance abuse, and behavioral issues. She seamlessly integrated her artistic skills in art therapy with clients.

In service to the Catholic Church, Jeannette was involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) at St. Bernadette and Church of the Risen Savior Parishes in Albuquerque, NM, and Our Lady of the Mountains Parish in Sierra Vista, Arizona over twenty-five years.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, followed by the Most Holy Rosary. Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
