Jeanne Konefsky, age 90, a loving mother and wife, died peacefully in her home April 20, 2018. Jeanne was accompanied at the time of her passing by her beloved husband, Victor, her son Bryan, their poodle “Missy” and their caregiver Kathy.
Jeanne was born on September 7, 1927, the same year Charles Lindbergh flew The Spirit of St. Louis across the Atlantic nonstop. 1927 was also the year that the first film featuring synchronized dialogue was released – The Jazz Singer.
Jeanne was raised in New Canaan, CT where she graduated from Low Haywood High School.
While attending the University of Miami she met her future husband, Victor. At the University of Miami Jeanne joined Sigma Kappa and she remained a life-long member of that sorority. Jeanne and Victor moved to Connecticut where they were married in 1954. While raising their family Jeanne nurtured a love for gardening, travel and animals. Jeanne was known for her generosity, compassion and keen sense of humor.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Victor, a World War II veteran, and former college professor; and her youngest son, Bryan, an experimental media artist and professor of Media Studies at the University of New Mexico. Jeanne is also survived by her always playful toy poodle, Missy; and her oldest son, Robert, a computer networking instructor at Coastline Community College in Anaheim, CA.
Kind and fun loving, Jeanne will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. There will be a memorial service for Jeanne on Saturday April 28, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
