KNIGHT, JEANNE JENSEN Jeanne Jensen Knight, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, after a graceful and valiant eight and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born December 26, 1933, in Mapleton, Utah to Delles and Jennie (Marsh) Jensen. She is survived by her daughter, Lorri Knight of Tijeras; brother, D. Arlen Jensen and wife, Vivian of Westhaven, UT; brother-in-law, Jim Knight and wife, Glenda (Paulson) of Salt Lake City, UT; sister-in-law, Glenda (Knight) Sadlier of Vernal, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Knight; son, John L. Knight; nephew, Kelly Jensen; brothers-in-law, Gary G. Knight, Charles G. Knight, and D. Ray Sadlier; and sisters-in-law, Macksene (Ferry) Jensen, and Connie (Taylor) Knight. Jeanne taught at Navajo and SY Jackson Elementary Schools, as well as Taylor Middle School in Albuquerque. In 1972, she earned an Education Doctorate (Ed.D.) from University of New Mexico, where she was a professor until 1974. Subsequently, Jeanne worked for the State of New Mexico at the Department of Education as Associate Superintendent for Learning Services until her retirement in 1993. After retiring from public education, she and her husband traveled extensively to pursue their passion for scuba diving and experiencing other cultures and countries. Jeanne visited sixty-one countries during her life. She loved them all and she thirsted to see and to do more. Her childhood desires were to travel and to write. In 2001, Jeanne joined the Las Maravillas writing group, partially fulfilling her dream by writing short stories and a memoir. Jeanne is best remembered for her elegance, intelligence, eloquence, quickness of wit, and love of reading, writing, traveling and cats. Jeanne's family and friends are grateful to the Women's Cancer and Surgical Care doctors, nurses, med techs and office administrators for caring for her and for helping her to travel, to explore and to live as long and as productively as she did. A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Casa Rodena Winery, 733 Chavez Rd. NW, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.
