Jean Spiller

Jean Cameron Fraser Spiller, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2019, at her home in Sandia Park, NM.  She was born on Friday, June 28, 1929 in Silver City, NM to Hugh and Sarah (Herrick) Fraser.  She was a 1947 graduate of Reserve High School and went on to study education and library science at the University of New Mexico, where she met her late husband, K.D. “Skid” Spiller.  She lived in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas until relocating to Las Vegas, NV in the 1960s.  She received a Master’s Degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and worked as a librarian for the Clark County School District until her retirement.  Jean had always hoped to return home to NM one day, so her family relocated with her to Sandia Park in 2016.  Jean loved to read and could always be found with a book nearby.  She enjoyed talking about her past, genealogy, and history in general.  She was always fond of family get-togethers and catching up with old friends.

Jean is survived by her son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Elissa and son, Bradford; grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, William and Jonathan; and great grandchildren, Wesley and Mikayla.  She was preceded in death by her husband, K.D. “Skid” and sister, Marjorie . The family is planning a Celebration of Life during their family reunion, to be held in Reserve, New Mexico, in August 2020 .
