Jean came to the United States in his early twenties with little money and speaking only Basque and French. Jean spent four years as a sheepherder in the South Fork region of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He later pursued the dairy farming business in California and Arizona, and then met Genevieve, his wife of 49 years. Jean, along with Genevieve, later established one of the largest dairy farms in New Mexico. Jean is survived by his loving wife, Genevieve Mounho; son, John and wife Margaret of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Sarah and Michael; daughter, Barbara Jo and husband Paul Zamora of Bend, OR. Jean and Genevieve retired nearly twenty years ago, and during that time have enjoyed fishing; and friends in Port Isabel, TX; as well as incredible cruises around the world. Jean was dearly loved by his family and will be missed by all those who knew him. The Mounho family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of The Cottages of Albuquerque for their dedicated and loving care of Jean in his final days.
