Jean Marie “Jamie” McConeghy

It is with much sadness for her family to announce the passing of their great and loving Mother and Grandmother on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the age of 93 in Albuquerque NM.

Born August 5, 1924 in Oakland, CA to Edmund and Josie Eggert, Jean Marie, known to her friends and family as Jamie and Gama, was a loving, generous, and caring person who made everyone feel special and welcome. Jamie grew up in Dixon, CA and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. Upon graduation she taught elementary school children in Oakland, CA and later Honolulu, HI. An accomplished woman, Jamie was married to John K. McConeghy, Captain USN. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her son John from California, daughter Josie Geissler and husband Patrick and their children Christi, Sean, and Alisa Geissler of Albuquerque. She loved entertaining, traveling, golf and conversations with people. Her navy life with John and their children took them all over the world creating wonderful experiences, memories, and exciting opportunities. She adored her family, grandchildren, and the wonderful times spent together. She treasured her volunteer work with various organizations, some of her favorites being the Naval Officers Wives Association , Navy Relief, the Naval Wives Gift Shop in Guam and the Kirtland AFB Thrift Shop. She had a profound love for animals, the outdoors, life and her spiritual faith. She cherished her time as a Sigma Kappa Sorority Sister at the University of California at Berkeley and maintained many lifelong friendships with these ladies.

A Celebration of her Life will be held in her hometown of Dixon, CA with a Gravesite Service at a time yet to be determined. Jamie will be most remembered for her kindness, generosity, warm smile, and unconditional love. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Animal Humane Society, animalhumanenm.org.
