J.D. Roark, 93, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. J.D. was born in Allen, OK on February 9, 1924. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie; his daughter, Anita Mayer and husband, Raymond; and his son, Douglas and wife, Ginger. He is also survived by his brother, Keith “Judge.” J.D. was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bessie and Frank; brothers, Louis “Plude”, Carl “Russ”, Oral “Jess”, Todd “Ray”; and sister, Irene “Rene”. He also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews.
J.D. enlisted in the U. S. Navy at the age of 18, and served two years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for 28 years. He served during three wars, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Aside from his dedication to the U.S. military, J.D. was a dedicated husband and father. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of woodworking, and for his generosity and cheerfulness in helping others.
Friends may visit Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Wyoming. Services will be held Friday, May 26, 2017, 10:00 a.m., also at FRENCH – Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the VFW.
