Javier Torres

November 11, 1939 — February 16, 2025

Francisco Javier Torres, age 85, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2025. He entered this world on November 11, 1939 in Zacapu, Michoacan, Mexico to Hilario and Margarita Torres. He is survived by his wife, Anna Maria Torres; his son, Jonathan Torres and wife, Ashley, grandsons, Matthew and Colton Torres of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Yvette Torres, grandson, Christian Osburn of Erath, Louisiana; and brother, Eduardo Torres and wife, Alicia of Naucalpan, Mexico. Javier was predeceased by his brother, Victor Torres of Whittier, California.

First and foremost, Javier was a Christian man who loved his Lord and Savior with all of his heart. Our hearts are happy for him because we know beyond a doubt that he is in the presence of the Lord Jesus and our Father in heaven. To his very last waking moment, he never stopped praying and calling on the Lord Jesus.

He has always been an inspiration to his family. He never gave up! In all of the challenges of his life, the Lord was with him.

Javier was a loving, kind, compassionate, and understanding husband, father, and grandfather--the very best! Javier loved his family with a passion, especially his grandsons. Every Saturday we would spend the afternoon with Jonathan, Ashley, and their boys. He loved watching Matthew and Colton play with their toys, and he loved it even more when they would sit on his lap for some cuddle time. Christian loves the game of golf, and Javier's desire was to play golf with Christian at least one time. He was so proud of all that Christian had accomplished.

Javier served in the army in Germany as a medic and was very proud of his service. Anyone who knows Javier knows how much he loved to work. His work ethic was unparalleled. He was always so proud of being able to work to provide for his family. He began his career in the hair industry in Los Angeles, California. He then moved to Houston, Texas and became one of the best stylists in the 70s to late 80s. In 1985, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Javier brought Aveda to New Mexico working as a distributor for the state. His passion for hair and teaching others to excel lead him to open the first Aveda school in New Mexico. At the same time, he opened an Aveda salon so that he could continue to serve the community by doing hair. He was a pioneer in the hair industry, and he was known and respected by many.

After his strokes and illnesses he wanted to give back to the community, having come through what could have been a fatal illness. He opened a wig salon and worked with women who lost their hair due to illness. He always had a heart for people.

He was an amazing man, a gift from God to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but we know that we are not saying goodbye. We believe we will be reunited with Javier one day; so, it is until we meet again.

A service to celebrate his life is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception at FRENCH - University. Javier will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
