Age 36, died September 24, 2014. Born in Albuquerque, Jason is survived by his mother, Patsy Staehlin and husband, Alan; his father, Ted Chavez; his brother, Derek Chavez; his sister, Rachel Jaramillo and husband, Josh; and his best buddy, Harley. Jason is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Eli Chavez and wife, Sheryl; Wilfred Chavez and wife, Carmen; Melinda Fitzpatrick and husband, Brian; Joanna Rodriguez and husband, George; Adela Padilla and husband, Mark; Robby Loomis, and Tammy Benolkin and husband, Mike; numerous cousins, other family, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elias and Betty Chavez and Jean and Richard Loomis, and his Uncle Frank Chavez. Jason played club soccer for many years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Valley High School in 1996 where he played basketball and bass clarinet in the marching band. He was an avid Chicago Bears and New Mexico Lobos fan. Jason enjoyed playing competitive fighting games and was a huge staple within the New Mexico gaming community. A Celebration of his Life Service will be Saturday, October 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.
