Jarrett Scott Holsten, a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. Jarrett was born on Tuesday, January 5, 1988, and attended Valley High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving as a medic in Afghanistan. "Baby Doc" continued his tradition of caring for others by asking, whether prompted or not, if we were OK or needed help.
Jarrett continued the tradition of the U.S. Cavalry by participating in off-roading at night in the desert, archery, and shooting. We have no clue as to how his persistent kilt wearing factored into these activities and asked him as such on many occasions. Jarrett had many loves in his life, a good smoke, the aforementioned kilt, reading, driving, photography, friends, and family.
He's survived by his parents, Jeff and Dawn Holsten; sister, Megan Speck; and his brother, Jeremy Holsten. A Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at FRENCH-University. Services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH-University, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the UNM Refugee Well-being Project:
