Janis Roberta Richards fell asleep in the Lord peacefully and with grace on March 25, 2016 with her loving husband at her side. Survived by her husband, Charlie; son Danny and daughter-in-law Karen of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Logan, Austin and Megan. She was predeceased by her son Jackie; parents Robert and Ruby; sisters Rose, Ruth, Bobbie, Margaret Ann; and brother Jesse "J.W".
Janis was born in Wellington, Texas and grew up in the farm community of Samnorwood, Texas with her sisters and brother. She played basketball and graduated from high school there.
Janis married the love of her life, Charlie Ray Richards, May 1, 1955 in the Samnorwood Baptist Church. She faithfully supported her husband's pastoral ministry while living in Texas and New Mexico. She found great joy in her sons and grandchildren.
Janis loved the Lord deeply; which was demonstrated by her great love for the Body of Christ. Janis was beautiful inside and out, always encouraging others with her faith, joy, and peace. She found great enjoyment in the beauty of God's creation--flowers, mountains and clouds. She will be remembered as an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She never met anyone without greeting them with a "Texas size" smile and hug. She leaves us rich in memories.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Lomas, 10500 Lomas NE. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Alzheimer's Association and mailed to Las Colinas Village; 500 Paisano NE; Albuquerque, NM 87123.
