Janis Hilda Prudhomme

Janis H Prudhomme passed away on February 16, 2022. Janis was the daughter of Horace H Smith and Anges I Michelsen, both deceased. Janis is survived by her sister, Anne and brother, Terry; husband, Raymond; daughter, Nicole; sons, Michael and Kristian; and eight grandchildren. Janis was born October 23, 1947 at Hamilton Field Air Force Base in Vallego, California. Her father Horace serve in the USAF in various locations until he retired in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

During her childhood Janis lived in states of Colorado, New Mexico, California, as well as Ottawa, Canada and Taipei, Taiwan with her family before graduating from High School in Mississippi. Married to Raymond in 1969 in Biloxi, Mississippi, they then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1972 after Ray graduated from the University of South Alabama. After their three children were actively involved in school, Janis completed her Bachelor of Science degree at UNM and then attended the Medical Technologist Program at the UNM Medical Sciences Center. Janis worked at the Lovelace Medical Hospital Group, Department of Pathology Laboratory until retirement, after which she pursued her studies in art and pottery making at UNM and the UNM Valencia campus. Janis was an avid gardener, gourmet cook, wonderful mother and loving wife.

We will all miss her and will commend her to the Lord at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
