Janie Lyn Hughes Ott, 63, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in Albuquerque, NM after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lyn was born in 1952 in Dallas, TX to Janie Lunelle Baker and William W. Hughes Jr. She is survived by her son Dennis Alexander Ott; mother Janie B. Hughes; and siblings William W. Hughes III and wife Christine, R. Baker Hughes and wife Jane, Elizabeth Hughes Chilton and husband Wes, including four nieces, seven nephews, and eight cousins.
Lyn graduated Sandia HS and attended the University of Albuquerque where she met former husband Dennis Ott and together they opened a gem and coral jewelry business. Lyn followed with a career in retail and food service management and partnered with Candace Harrison in a successful catering business, the Crystal Pear. Lyn was a tireless pro-life advocate and fearless volunteer for pro-life organizations and was on staff with Justice For All, an organization dedicated to bringing the pro-life message to college campuses. Lyn was an active patriot and helped coordinate poll and election integrity efforts for the RPNM and as RPNM Director of the Help America Vote Act, she was a named petitioner in the precedent setting public records case of RPNM vs. NM Taxation & Revenue. In the NM Supreme Court opinion, the justices confined executive privilege limits and ruled routine functions of agencies to be open to public inspection. Lyn served as a Sunday School teacher at Hoffmantown Church and was a longtime member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
There will be a Visitation for Janie "Lyn" Hughes Ott on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas, and a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Blvd.
