Janice Ruth Wahlberg, age 81, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on November 23, 2015.
She was born to Carl Edward and Anna Katherine Anderson on August 9, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. She met the love of her life, Richard, when she was a freshman and he was a senior at Fenger High School in Chicago. They married a few months after her high school graduation on December 27, 1952, and moved to Albuquerque where Rich was serving in the US Air Force at Kirtland AFB. She had wonderful memories of the first time she saw the Sandia Mountains - what a majestic sight!
As a youth, Jan enjoyed playing organ and violin and singing in the church choir. She loved riding with her father on his Harley and Chicago amusement park rollercoasters. Jan was a homemaker who was an excellent cook and seamstress. She later served as a dedicated volunteer at the Presbyterian Hospital front desk for 21 years, where she enjoyed helping others and making close friends. Jan and Rich loved to spend weekends camping in the New Mexico forests with family and friends. During their retirement, they enjoyed long trips around the country in their RV trailer.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Rich, just five months earlier, son, Glenn and sister, Shirley Bermudez. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Graham, and son-in-law, Mark; grandchildren, Julie, David, Stuart and Sean; six great-grandchildren; sister, Dolores Otterdahl and her husband, Ron; and several nephews and nieces.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Village at Alameda, 8810 Horizon Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
