Janice Rosamund Stephenson

Janice Rosamund Stephenson , age 67, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kristin Blaich. Janice is survived by her beloved son, Jonathan Blaich, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers Mark Stephenson, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Peter Stephenson (Diane), of Bedford, TX; and her beloved grandchildren; Alma and Malcolm Blaich, of Albuquerque, NM. Janice will be deeply loved and missed by all who knew her. She was faithfully devoted to her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and was active in her church, First United Methodist Church of Grants, NM and several other Christian ministries. Her family wishes for her friends to celebrate a life lived for God, family, and country as she continues into the heavenly realms! She truly cherished her wife, mother, and grandmother roles over the years. She loved her Lord and her family unconditionally with all her heart, energy, and loyalty. These were by far the most important facets of her life. Janice was also a dog lover and had several as members of her family over the years, including a Labrador Retriever named Gunner, and a Golden Retriever named Shiloh. Vocationally, she spent several decades as a special education teacher, both in the school systems of Albuquerque, NM and Grants, NM and in homeschooling her own children. She held degrees from Rutgers University and Ithaca College. Born in East Wirral, Cheshire, UK, she immigrated to the United States as a young girl along with her parents. Janice lived in several regions of the United States, and though she settled in New Mexico from 1982 to the present, she traveled to all 50 States and had a deep and rich love for her adopted country, its geography and its people. She also treasured her friends and her life was enriched by so many of them. Her other interests included music ministry, life-long learning, travel, hiking, reading, and most of all, spending quality time with all the ones she loved. She was a gifted pianist and often played during worship services at First United Methodist Church of Grants, NM.
