Janice Evelyn (Anderson) Roberts of Albuquerque died on May 27, 2021. She was the daughter of longtime New Mexico educators Marian Wynn Anderson and John Boring (J.B.) Anderson. She is survived by daughters Wynn Roberts and Carol Roberts (Adrian Jansz), grandson John Antonio Roberts, brother John W. Anderson and wife Barbara of Virginia, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved her very much. She was born June 15th, 1934, in Greenville, TX, but lived her entire life (except for the first 2 weeks) in New Mexico, living in Reserve, Las Vegas and Albuquerque.
Janice graduated from Albuquerque High, then attended NMSU for 3 years as a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She attended UNM for one more year and graduated with a degree in Home Ec and P.E. She started her career as a teacher at Garfield Junior High in Albuquerque, then raised two girls and later started a career as a stockbroker at Olde and Co., and later Sunwest Bank.
Janice was frequently seen in her retirement years at the Presbyterian Healthplex pumping iron and riding the stationary bike three times a week for the better part of 2 decades with her longtime good friend Ed Bradley. She and Ed also volunteered as delivery crew for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was an excellent seamstress in her day, sewed all her girl's clothes, was very creative and crafty, and even learned to paint retablos the traditional way (with varnish made from pine sap and Everclear) and loved to visit the Jemez mountains where she spent many years growing up and building a cabin on Horseshoe Springs Road with her family. Her job was bringing the shingles up to the roof on the ladder, an effort she never let anyone forget. She enjoyed living at the Meadows, staying busy with water aerobics, dances, and the many social activities. She was a New Mexico girl through and through, and never failed to be awed by the beauty of her home state. "We live in a beautiful place, don't we?" She was a wise, kind, caring person with a beautiful smile, who was always up for an adventure, from riding elephants in Sri Lanka to 4-wheeling through the mountains on her 85th birthday. She will be greatly missed. No service will be conducted, Janice just asked that her family and friends remember the good times. We love you, Mom.
