If the goal of life is to love, laugh, and enjoy as many experiences as possible, there can be no doubt Janice Bauer lived a very full life. From raising a family to traveling the world, and from breaking barriers in computer science to growing robust gardens in her back yard, Janice was able to experience much more than most before leaving this world.
Janice Bauer passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico while fighting leukemia. Her family and friends will greatly miss her genuine, caring soul and will always remember and cherish her love and zest for new life experiences.
A sixth-generation Kentuckian, Janice was born November 6, 1946, in Covington, Kentucky to Robert Louis Bauer, Sr. and Jeanne Marcel Bauer. She had two younger siblings - one sister (Linda Diane Bauer Caver) and one brother (Robert Louis Bauer, Jr.). She spent most of her formative years growing up in San Diego, California before a family move to Fort Worth, Texas in 1964. In 1968, Janice married Cyril Thomas Nute and she weaved in college classes while raising a family. Janice attended San Diego Palomar Junior College and the University of Texas at Austin before finishing her degree in computer science at Texas Christian University in 1986.
After beginning her career in computer science at Lockheed, Janice spent most of her work life at Honeywell where she rose to the position of principal engineer and was once honored by the company as "Engineer of the Year." But Janice will be more remembered for constant pursuit of random activities. She was an excellent gardener, cook, and seamstress. She was an avid bridge player and loved animals, especially dogs (so many dogs). She served on her Albuquerque neighborhood's homeowner's association for nearly 20 years and traveled more of the globe than 99 percent of all humans. Janice saw all seven continents and visited more than 50 countries - her passport was very well worn.
Janice is survived by her mother, Jeanne Marcel Bauer of Fort Worth; her daugthers Kristine Nute Perry of Cedar Park, Texas, and Karen Nute Watson (and husband, Bob) of Crowley, Texas, and her son Kevin Bradley Nute of Fort Worth; grandkids Rhiannon Alane Nute-Stallings of Albuquerque, Weylin Millar Kleinman of Pflugerville, Texas, and Reagan Alane Kleinman of Cedar Park; her sister Linda Diane Bauer Caver (and husband, Fred) of Austin, and her brother Robert Louis Bauer, Jr. (and wife, Pat) of Fort Worth; nephews Thomas Frederick Caver, III (and wife, Amber, and children Alyssa and Andrew) of Houston, Russell Louis Caver (and wife, Bonnie, and children Landry and Hogan) of Austin, niece Rachel Leigh Bauer (and children Casey, Kaylee, and Kaitlynn) of Fort Worth, nephews Robert Louis Bauer III (and wife, Stephanie, and daughters Abigail and Rebekah) of Forest Hill, Texas, and Matthew Allen Bauer of Fort Worth.
A Memorial Service will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 10, 2022.
