Janet Tafoya

Janet F. Tafoya, our beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Paul; her son, Arthur of Albuquerque, NM; and her daughter, Anne Maria of Beverly Hills, CA; along with many nieces, nephews and relatives. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Oliver B. and Mary T. Frei and her brother, Oliver P. Frei. Janet grew up in Northern Michigan and graduated from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She practiced professional nursing with a career that spanned 40 years. She worked in Marquette, Michigan in nursing from 1955-1956. She moved to New Mexico in 1956 and did staff nursing at UNM Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital and Janet was employed as an Operating Room Nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital for 33 years. She enjoyed working in her garden and had a love for animals, especially her little dog, Button, and loved bird watching. Janet was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for many years. A public viewing will be one hour prior to the Rosary assisted by the Holy Name Society on Sunday, January 17, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 18, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
