Janet H. Koury, 82, passed away peacefully March 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Janet had faith in God knowing that all in life, goodness and challenges came from Him and accepted it.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Koury; and her parents, Paul and Hassiba Handy.
Janet was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her personality was infectious and felt by all that she met. She was born and raised in Boston, MA and resided there until 1973 when her family relocated to Albuquerque.
She worked, enjoyed life and had many hobbies, and was an expert at all of them. Always enthusiastic to help, no task was too large or small for her to lend a hand or expertise. She was an excellent cook and hostess, and held many unforgettable events and parties at the family home. Always the teacher, she made sure to pass on her talents to the next generations.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Koury and wife, Angela; daughter, Karen Koury Cardenas and husband, Tom; daughter, Donna Rappuhn and husband, Doug; son, Christopher Koury and wife, Emily. She was adored by her grandchildren, Joanne Koury Wilson and husband, Kyle, Lauren Koury Moore and husband, Mike, Paul Koury, Katie Rappuhn, Steven Rappuhn and wife, Faith, Natalie Rappuhn, Bella Koury, Laila Koury and Andrew Koury. She also had two great-grandson,s Max Wilson and Mark Wilson. She is also survived by her sister, Annette Kouri and her husband, George of Naples, FL.
Janet led a full and rewarding life and she will be greatly missed. Safe travels mother, you can never be replaced.
Rosary will be recited at St. John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
