Jana Pearl (Andrus) Barott

On Friday, January 20, 2023, Jana Pearl Barott, loving mother passed away. Jana was born Wednesday, May 26, 1937 in Stamford, Texas, the only child of Roy and Pearl Andrus. Her father was a rancher and her mother a public school music teacher. Jana spent her childhood first in Sweetwater, Texas and then on a ranch in the Texas hill country riding horses, walking with her beloved father and spending time with her extended family. Her lifelong love of animals and the beauty of nature was born on that ranch.

An incredibly creative and musically talented woman, Jana began directing church choirs at 19, eventually earning her MA in music education from UNM and became a music teacher with the Albuquerque public school system. Her choirs earned top honors until she retired in 1987. Upon her retirement from APS, Jana started making and restoring porcelain dolls winning many awards.

After meeting the love of her life, Philip Barott on a blind date, they married and she proudly walked with him through his military career. They were married for 58 years before Phil preceded her in death. Together they had five children; Bryan who precedes her in death and his widow, Alisa Barott, Brynne Badeaux, Jill and her husband, Jon Kuncel, Diana and her husband Stephen Turney, and Colette Barott. Jana is also survived by grandchildren Nicole, Amelia, Philip, David, Paul, Alex, Madeleine and 9 great grandchildren.

Jana's home was filled with laughter and music. From lullabies to arias and everything in between, her beautiful voice filled our hearts. She was a devoted friend and fierce supporter of those she loved. Her life was a living example of her deep abiding faith in God and love of Jesus Christ. Jana lived a life fully loved and will be deeply missed.
