Jan Davis

August 27, 1948 — November 4, 2024

We are sad to announce the tragic and unexpected passing of Jan Davis in her home November 4, 2024. She was progressing well toward a successful recovery from major surgery recently.

Jan was born August 27, 1948, in Clovis, New Mexico to June and D.L. Ingram. She graduated from Clovis High School and attended and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1971 with a degree in Elementary Education. While attending ENMU, she joined Alpha Delta Pi sorority, making lifelong friends.

In June 1971 she married Steve Davis shortly after graduating. After living in Tucson for a year, they returned to New Mexico, where Jan started her teaching career at Hawthorn Elementary teaching 1st grade. After several years, she was asked to join her principal and a few other teachers as part of the inaugural staff at Dennis Chavez Elementary. She concluded her teaching career with several years at SY Jackson and retired after 30 years. Jan was always well liked and respected by students, parents, teachers, and staff.

After retiring from teaching, Jan did not slow down: playing league soccer, running and finishing the Albuquerque City Marathon with her co-runner and great friend Kay Padgett. Jan also took up golf and played with friends and her husband for years. Jan became an accomplished painter of glassware and wine sets becoming very popular at Los Golondrinas in Santa Fe and craft stores in Albuquerque.

Jen was a very active member of the assistance league of Albuquerque, joining in 2009. She served on many committees and served as president during COVID. She enjoyed all the projects they took on as a group and built many lasting relationships which she cherished.

A first class mom and grandma, Jan was the very proud mother of two boys, Derek and Ryan. As a grandmother of six-Talyr, Meygan, Cy, Jacoby, Quinncy, and Braxton, she enjoyed watching them grow up playing sports and working toward various goals and always ready to listen and help. Jan had a great relationship and love for Sarah, Derek's wife, who she greatly admired for her innovative skills as a teacher.

She also has a brother and a sister-in-law, Keith and Peggy Ingram of Clovis, who she cared dearly for and always kept in contact. Jen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and friend, and her absence is immeasurable to all of us.

Cremation has taken place, and an open house memorial will take place on Thursday, December 5th from 1-4pm at FRENCH-Wyoming.
