While still in grade school, Jim, born in Homestead, Pa., moved with his family to Albuquerque. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1969.
New Mexico proved the ideal place for Jim to pursue his many passions: riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. He was a renowned cook and competitive barbecue master, making up half of the Sweet Peppers barbecue team. He had been co-owner of Electric Motor Co. since 1994.
Jim was a whirlwind of activity his entire life, which he lived to the fullest.
Jim and his wife Bev, who preceded him in death, were generous donors and volunteers to a number of charities, including S.A.F.E House, Special Olympics, breast cancer research groups and many others.
Jim's survivors include; his wife Cheryl, whom he married in March 2016; son Levi and his wife, Tasha; daughter Lanna and her husband, Jay; and grandchildren Tino, Gabby, Josiah, Parker, Taylor and Palin.
Jim and Cheryl traveled extensively in the past year, visiting Mexico, Canada, Italy and many places in the U.S.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Legacy Church, Central Campus, 7201 Central Ave. NW. Ennichement will take place Friday, June 23, 2017, 2:00 p.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
