James Weaver age 94, a loving dedicated husband, father and grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Jim was known for his great sense of humor, contagious loving smile and the twinkle in his eye. He was a member of Alameda Baptist Church for over 55 years and a dedicated deacon of the church. Jim was also a loyal VFW member for over 70 years and a Purple Heart recipient of WWII. On July 4th 1942 he lost his leg, just before turning 21 on August 10th. He then became an artificial limb maker. Jim also enjoyed racing stock cars.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Louise (Taylor) Weaver; children, Constance (Rev. Kenneth) Clair, Dr. Douglas (Scheryl) Weaver, and Ramona (Fred) Lopez; his grandchildren, Timothy (Theresa) Clair, James (Sandra) Weaver, Catherine (Brett) Boning, Amy Weaver-Dunagan, David (Felicia) Henderson, Eric (Jen) Weaver, Amber (Eli) Kenton, John (Jessica) Weaver, Moriah (Jesse) Flores, Curtis (April) Weaver, and Anthony Henderson; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; he is also survived by one brother and four sisters. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Nancy Viola (Freeman) Weaver; two brothers; son, James Michael Weaver; and grandson, Jonathan Paul Clair.
A visitation will be held Wednesday April 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Funeral Services will be held Thursday April 13, 2017, 10:30 a.m., at Alameda Baptist Church, 8818 2nd St. NW. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE.
