James Newton Sweet

James N "Jim" Sweet, age 79, died April 14, 2018.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; his children, Dennis Sweet, Nancy Sweet and husband, Russ Ethington, Liz Sweet; his grandchildren, Corey and Isabella; and many other family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy Sweet; and his sister, Nancy Barth.

Mr. Sweet received a Bachelors Degree from Stanford University and his PhD in Physics from the University of California  (Berkeley). After college he served in the US Navy on the USS Barb and taught at Nuclear Power School. Upon receiving his doctorate he worked for Sandia National Labs for over 30 years before retiring. Jim was a member of the Ski Patrol at Sandia Peak for 17 years. Besides skiing, he enjoyed hand ball, hiking, traveling and especially spending time with family. He was also an avid Golden State Warriors fan.

Burial has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation, 12650 Riverside Dr, # 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607, www.myeloma.org or the charity of your choice.
