James Edward Roberts, 87. Our beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Father and Papa passed away at home on July 1, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Jim was born on December 7, 1936 in Buffalo New York. Son of Herbert and Ruth (Johnson) Roberts. Jim leaves behind his beloved wife Nancy (Preston) of 64 years.
Jim also leaves behind his loving children; daughter Pamala Nunnally of Albuquerque, NM, grandsons Alexander and Noah Nunnally. Son, Jeffrey Roberts of Albuquerque. Son, Daniel Roberts of Arizona, his wife Lisa , children Rachel and Jacob Roberts, great grandson Urijah Roberts, and several nieces and nephews around the country.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ruth Roberts, brothers Dick, Dave, Donald and sisters Lois, Edith and Virginia.
Jim and Nancy were married in February of 1960. They lived in the Buffalo area until 1963 when they moved to Naples, NY. Here they bought their first home and raised three children. Jim loved to hunt and fish the area in his spare time, especially when his oldest brother Dick could join him. In the summer months he enjoyed camping with his family, annual family reunions with his siblings and their families, and road trips. In 1978 he moved his family to Albuquerque.
Jim's love of road trips prompted his dream of being a long haul truck driver, so in 1987 he and wife Nancy went on the road. After 4 or so years they returned home to Albuquerque to be near their children and grandchildren. They bought a camping trailer and went to work with their daughter and son-in-law doing jewelry and bead shows around the country. They enjoyed this new adventure that allowed them to travel as well as helping their children to build a new business.
Jim was a dedicated, loving, and generous husband, father and Papa. He worked hard his whole life. He could do anything he set his mind too, and gave everything his very best effort. Jim finally retired in March of 2021 after working with his family for over 20 years at their shop in Old Town, Albuquerque.
Jim was patient, kind, funny and clever, who loved to tinker and fix things. He was a great story teller and made friends wherever he went. There are no words to express just how much our family loved this very special man. A man who touched so many lives. We love you and will miss you every single day.
