James Lester "Les" Phillips, 92, passed away December 15, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dottie; his children, James Lester Phillips Jr, and Sandra, Katherine Ann Elkins, Charlene Lenise Padilla and husband, John; his five grandchildren, James Phillips, Klarissa Lujan, Kristopher Padilla, Kash Elkins, and Jarrod Phillips; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and other family and friends including his faithful canine companion, Scarlet. Les is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rebe and William "Bill" Phillips, and his brother, Colonel William Phillips. Les served in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from the BNSF Railroad after 42 years. He was a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #461. Les was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be Saturday, December 19, 2015, 3:30 p.m. at
FRENCH-Lomas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association, 615 Virginia Street NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108 in Les' name.
