James F. "Jimmy" Novak

d. November 21, 2015

James F. Novak was called home to Heaven on November 21, 2015. He was born in Bath, NY on October 9, 1933. His family later moved to Sparks, NV where he attended high school and enlisted and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his Navy service, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Korea and Japan. His last service assignment was to Kirtland Air Force Base where he met the girl who would become his wife of over 55 years, Gloria. Their life and love are expressed by the following: "What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to strengthen each other in all labor, to rest on each other in all sorrow, to minister to each other in all pain, to be one with each other in silent unspeakable memories at the moment of the last parting?" Adam Bede, George Eliot.
Loving the outdoors, Jimmy hunted, fished, and always had a firearm on or very near his person when not at work. He was an avid football fan and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He often said he was born 100 years too late, knowing he would have relished the life of the last half of the 19th century. Jimmy was a past member of the Single Action Shooting Society and thoroughly enjoyed dressing in his Union Army regalia, especially during Lincoln County Days and at End of the Trail SASS events. He worked many years for Sparton Southwest and retired from Sandia National Labs in 1998.
Jimmy was a soft spoken man of few words, never trying to impress, just being himself, and loving all his extended family. Although he was content to just sit in his yard and watch the grass grow, he also enjoyed travelling with Gloria and sometimes other family members throughout the United States, usually in an RV, occasionally experiencing some misadventures.
The family thanks Dr. Geoffrey Kunz, Dr. Bernard Agbedmadzo, the staff of Presbyterian Hospital and Kaseman Hospice, and the staff of Fresenius/Albuquerque Dialysis Center for their excellent care and concern, and the members of Berean Baptist Church for their many uplifting and supportive prayers for the past several years.
To his family: "It's 10 o'clock; everybody out."
Jimmy is survived by his beloved family, cherished wife Gloria; daughters Teresa (Dale) Gage, Sherry Tucker; son Stephen (Amanda) Novak; grandson James A. Novak; granddaughter Sandra Tucker; sister Shirley (George) Harris; sisters-in-love Sherry Wright; Nichole (Don) Weakland, Tanya (Michael) Celenze; brother-in-law Marc (AnnMarie) Harp; father-in-law Stephen (Patsy) Harp; and many, many nieces and nephews.
At his request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Mission Fund, 3800 Eubank NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 or the charity of your choice.
