James "Jim" McKenney

James E. (Jim) McKenney, 77, of Albuquerque, NM, died October 27, 2014. He passed away at Kaseman Hospice after a valiant, four-month battle to overcome the debilitating effects of a stroke. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise McKenney, of Harrisburg, PA, and by his eldest daughter, Leslie Harrison, of Shirley, MA. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarajane; his two daughters, Allison Miller, of Las Vegas, NV, and Louise Marquez, of Edgewood, NM; his son, Vince McKenney, and wife, Marie, of Rio Rancho, NM; and his two brothers, John and wife, Gayle, of Manning, SC, and Tom and wife, Kathy, of Mechanicsburg, PA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a 1959 graduate from the University of Delaware and had a long career as an Electrical Engineer, retiring from Sandia Labs in 1998. He was an avid ham radio operator and the proverbial snowbird, leaving town each fall and returning with the warm weather in the spring. Dad could fix anything, as evidenced by his workbenches! We will miss his smile, his corny jokes and his wisdom. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, 601 Eubank SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123.
