James Joseph Mace

James Joseph Mace (MSGT, USAF Retired)

James Joseph Mace, 96, passed away on February 2, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. He is reunited with his loving wife, Rose Mary, in heaven, along with numerous friends and family. Jim retired from the USAF after 27 years of service and then worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 16 years. He attended Chaminade University in HI (BBA) and Highlands University in NM (MA). He was actively involved with his church, Sangre de Cristo, and was an avid skier with the Coronado Ski Club.

Jim was born to Charles and Matilda Mace on December 6, 1928, in Chelsea, MA. He is predeceased by his three brothers and their wives: William and Clare Mace, Charles and Mary Mace and Richard and Joyce Mace. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Cody (husband Paul, deceased), and his three sons and their wives: James and Susan Mace, Gregory and Peggy Mace, and Edward and Susie Mace. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Alexander Mace and Faith Ouzts, Emily and Chad Regis, Carla and Tanner Sanders, Chrysta and Joshua Baca, Kelley Mace and Sierra Pena, and Madison and Kenny Riley, as well as twelve great-grandchildren: Adalene Mace-Thomas, Carter Regis, Scarlett Regis, Jocelyn Baca, Andrew Baca, Ryan Baca, Jacob Chavez, Hailey Mace, Brooklyn Riley, Travis Diglio, Hunter Riley, and Aria Riley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

On Wednesday, February 12th, visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. at French on Wyoming, followed by a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a reception. On Thursday, February 13th, 2025, a Funeral Mass will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m., followed by an interment ceremony at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
