James Randolph (Ranny) Kennedy born Wednesday, August 9, 1922 in Sylvester, Texas to Roscoe C. and Myrtle Lauderdale Kennedy went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Shore; brothers, Martin, Royce, Horace, Gene Kennedy and Roland Robinson.

Ranny married the love of his life, JoAnne Trombley Boyden.   In April they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  His last words to JoAnne: “you are so pretty”.   Ranny was a devoted husband and father.  He was loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, JoAnne; daughter Glenda Rigdon and husband Doug, sons Lynn Kennedy and wife Suzanne, Jeff Boyden (deceased)  and wife Denise, Joe Boyden and wife Lynn; grandchildren, Zac Rigdon and wife Tessa, Scott Rigdon and wife Rachel, Randy Kennedy and wife Mary,  Kyle Kennedy and wife Savannah, Jacquelyn Cashman and husband Dusty, Amanda Taylor and husband John , Jennifer and Brandi Boyden, Wade Boyden and wife Shirley; and 8 great-grandchildren, Emme and Vivi Rigdon, Mia and Eternity Boyden, Bradley and Brooke Taylor,  Hunter and Ryder Cashman.

Ranny moved to NM as a child when his parents homesteaded property close to Pie Town, NM.  He served in World War II on the Battleship USS New Mexico as a Gunner’s mate. During the Pacific Theater USS New Mexico was hit twice by kamikaze attacks, during Luzon and Okinawa landings.  After the war Ranny and his brothers started "Kennedy Brothers", a sawmill and logging company in Chama, New Mexico. He eventually moved to Cedar Crest where he and his wife JoAnne owned a wholesale lumber yard in the canyon for many years.  He was a successful land developer in the East Mountains

When not working he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time at their cabin.  At the cabin there was always a poker game with friends. He loved to tease and joke with people.

The family would like to thank Pavia and the Ambercare staff as well as Shirley, Elena and the Bee Hive Four Hills staff for the loving care he received.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 10, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.
