James Ira Irvin

James Ira Irvin, "Jim", age 71, was born and raised in Alameda and Los Ranchos. He passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 surrounded by family. He was survived by his children, Pamela Irvin and partner, Andrew Maes, Lilly Irvin-Vitela and husband, Jason Vitela, James Irvin and wife, Ashley, and Charles Irvin and wife, Amy. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Kerri Irvin, Maya Irvin-Vitela, Simon Irvin-Vitela, Caitlynn Irvin, Anna Irvin, Amaris Irvin, and Joseph Irvin; and great-grandchildren, Nitai Schwab, Maitreya Schwab, and Ramani Schwab. He was a loving uncle to Theresa Benton of Cottage Hills, IL. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Leroy Irvin and Clotine Hastings Irvin; and his sister, Sheila "Joyce" Benton. He loved his family with his whole heart and made lifelong friends who he treated like family. He loved to tell colorful stories and jokes. He loved to dance, camp, ride motorcycles, and hang out at family gatherings or with friends. He was up for adventure and traveled back and forth across this country as a truck driver learning about people and places and making friends along the way. He was willing to lend family, friends, neighbors, and strangers a hand or an ear. He was handy, resourceful, funny, great with babies, elders, and animals. His big heart and big personality will be missed. A Private Memorial was held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 with stories, jokes, laughter, dancing, and love.
