James Ray "Jim" Hill

James Ray "Jim" Hill passed away on March 29, 2014 at the age of 81. Born on August 5, 1932 in Arp, TX, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Moddrell Franklin and Fannie Mae (Ragsdale), two sisters and one brother. As faithful husband and devoted father, Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Faye (Coconaugher); and their two children, Kevin Mark of Cleveland, OH, and Kenda Kay of Lewes, DE. Having grown up in a farming community, Jim graduated from Arp High School in 1950 before moving to Dallas, TX to pursue employment. From 1952-1954 Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Before and after his military service, Jim worked for the Kinney Shoe Corporation in Texas; Tulsa, OK; Albuquerque, NM; Portland, OR; and New York, NY. Jim's impressive career of 42 years with Kinney Shoes culminated in his position as Senior Vice President of Retail Budgets in the corporate offices of the Woolworth Building in New York City. As a longtime resident of East Windsor, NJ, Jim's service to the church community included leadership within the First Baptist Church of Hightstown and the New Jersey Baptist Convention. Following his retirement, Jim and Faye returned to Albuquerque in 1999 where they resumed valuable fellowship at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St. NE, Albuquerque. Friends are invited for visitation at FRENCH - Wyoming on Tuesday evening, April 1, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please honor Jim's life with donations to Eastern Hills Baptist Church (ehbc.org), the Prostate Cancer Foundation (pcf.org), or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
