James Habersham of Espanola, NM, age 62, passed quietly on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Christine (Brown) Habersham, daughters; Natasha and Tianna Habersham, sisters; Linda Ferguson (Benjamin) of Peekskill, NY; Lisa Pollard (Eric) and April Habersham of Yonkers, NY, and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and friends.
Habersham was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Habersham, mother, Martha Habersham, and sister, Marilyn Habersham.
Habersham was born, Wednesday June 28, 1961, in Yonkers, New York to Joseph and Martha Habersham. James attended Yonkers Public Schools where upon graduation he entered the Military Service to Honor and Serve his Country.
Habersham entered the Navy in 1980 and served as an aircraft mechanic on the U.S.S. Midway. He was honorably discharged and entered civilian life where he embarked upon a career at Boeing, U.S.A. as an aircraft mechanic.
Habersham accepted Christ as a child and joined Faith Tabernacle Church in Albuquerque where he served.
Habersham served on the board of The ARC of New Mexico, coached swimming with the Special Olympics, collected comic books, and loved his NY Giants, NY Jets, NY Knicks, and the NY Mets. He loved collecting black Santa Claus figures, and he was able to send one to each of his daughters and sisters.
From the beginning, James was devoted to all three of his girls. He sat through every dance recital, competition, pageant, and football game. If he was not working, he was at the event.
James worked hard every day up until the day he retired due to his health. He instilled in his daughters to always do your best and never quit a job until you have another one. He was my rock when our daughters were born, especially with his Tianna Rose, but as they got older (pre-teen and teen years), I became his rock.
He was extremely proud of all his nieces and nephews and enjoyed talking to them as they grew into adults. His brothers-in-law all had a different reason for their place in his heart, but you all did. He loved and loved hard even when it came to his friends, especially Troy and Gwen Crawford whom he has known since his Navy days.
We were very blessed when Troy and Gwen agreed to be Tianna's godparents.
James is resting with our Heavenly Father, and we rejoice, but he is missed.
