James Patrick Goodwin

December 11, 1924 — August 30, 2022

James Patrick "Pat" Goodwin passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at age 97. Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Lee Goodwin; son, Mark Goodwin; and grandchildren, Jennifer Hodges, Ryan Golden and Myla Goodwin.

He was born on Thursday, December 11, 1924, in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. He joined the US Army at the age of 18 and served as a medic in the 104th Infantry Division (Timberwolves) during World War II. After the war he met his wife, Charlotte Lee. They married in 1946, moved to Albuquerque in 1950 and were married for 72 years. They had nine children, Trish, Mark, Beth, Roseann, Jim, Mary, Mike, Charlotte, and KC.

Pat was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was an entrepreneur and owned Pat Goodwins Office Equipment for 45 years. He was a man of few words but had a generous heart and sly sense of humor. He has been referred to by friends as an Albuquerque icon, a true gentleman and a champion for his family. There was little he wouldn't do for his family and friends. He will be missed dearly by all that knew him. His legacy of family, grit, courage, and determination will live on in those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He will be remembered during a Catholic Mass to be held Sunday, September 11, 2022, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Assumption, 811 Guaymas Pl NE. A Memorial Service will be held Monday September 12, 2022, 12:00 p.m., at Student Athlete Headquarters (SAHQ), 1404 Lead Ave SE.
