James Patrick Baxter was born March 4, 1944 to Lena (Dolzadelli) and Robert J. Baxter. He went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 28, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Jim graduated from the University of New Mexico with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, both in education. He taught for Albuquerque Public Schools for 13 years before joining New York Life where he passionately worked up until his passing (42 years). He was also a faithful board member for Boys and Girls Club.
Jim was a beloved and devoted son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather and most recently, great-grandfather. He was known and will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh. He adored his family and friends and loved his career at New York Life. He was selfless in serving others and lived simply by saying “whenever you do something, give to it your absolute best effort.” His life can be summed up by replacing the word love with Jim in 1 Corinthians starting in verse 4. Jim is patient and kind; Jim does not envy or boast; he is not arrogant or rude. He does not insist on his own way; he is not irritable or resentful; he does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Jim bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Baxter (nee Dozadelli) and father, Robert James Baxter; his brothers, Robert J. Baxter Jr. and John Baxter; his sister, Mary Helen Malow (nee Baxter); as well as nephews, Michael Baxter, Robert J. Baxter III, and Matthew Baxter. He is survived by his wife, Judith Baxter; his boys, Jason Baxter and wife Stacey, Aaron Sanders, and Jeremy Sanders and wife Ashley; daughter-in-love, Coral Cordova; his grandchildren, Shelby Baxter, Rebekah Snodgrass and husband Josh, Micailah Sanders, Rachel Sanders, Cooper Etter; great-grandson, Caleb James Snodgrass; his brother, William Baxter and wife Judy; as well as nieces and nephews.
