James D. (Jim) Andrews passed away on January 2, 2024 at the age of 86. He was at home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Tucumcari, NM on October 5, 1937 and he moved to Dawson, NM at the age of 4 where his dad worked on the railroad. Jim went to school in Dawson for 3 years and at the age of 8 with a new baby sister his family moved to the small town of McLean in the Texas panhandle where he graduated from high school. He then went to Jr. college at NMMI for 2 years and then graduated from SMU in January of 1960. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy's Aviation Candidates program and became Navy Pilot in 1961 and he also married Julia Raley. Upon discharge from the Navy, he moved to Albuquerque and worked for Xerox Corp. and Medtronic Corp. He retired as the VFW NM Service Officer in 2008 and spent his retired time trying to improve his golf game with no luck and pranking his friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife, Julia; his brother, Pat (Ana); daughters, Kelly (Rick); Tracy (Andy); and 4 grandchildren. There will be no memorial services. He will be cremated; and these are his wishes. His memory will live on in the people who loved him. James was a great man with a heart of gold.
