Age 84, died July 11, 2014. She was born Jacqueline Augusta Kranzthor on August 23, 1929. She grew up in El Paso with her sister, Terry Liebman. She graduated from Radford School and attended UTEP until her marriage to Seymour L "Bud" Maisel on May 2, 1948, at which time she moved to Albuquerque. Not only was she a caring, involved, and devoted mother to five children, but she was able to find time to participate in the family business and be a leader in the community. After the family sold the Indian Jewelry business, "Maisel's" in 1972, she and her husband established the "Toy Tree", a children's toy and clothing store. The store was a well loved landmark at the Coronado shopping center. Her community activities included serving as the President of the local chapter and international director of La Sertoma, a service organization that raised money for the March of Dimes, helped start the All Faiths Home and aided Special Education Centers. She served as chairman of the Cuddler Program at UNMH and subsequently became president of the UNMH Service League. Under her guise the "Albucookery" cookbook was published. The income from sales still benefits UNM Hospital. She served on the boards of Temple Albert Sisterhood, Symphony Woman, Republican Woman, Albuquerque Chapter of the Santa Fe Opera, and on many P.T.A. boards. She was passionate about art and painting. She took art lessons off and on throughout her life, leaving a legacy of art work for her children. In her later life she worked as a volunteer at the Albuquerque Art Museum. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Kathy Maisel Goldenberg and husband Paul Goldenberg, Susan Maisel-Miroff MD and husband Frank Miroff, Terry Maisel Haas and husband Mark Haas DPM, Maurice Frederick "Rick" Maisel, Amy Maisel Sherrer and husband Larry Sherrer MD; she is also survived by ten grandchildren, Cara Goldenberg Lefkowitz and husband Scott, David Goldenberg MD, Lisa Oliphant Berry and husband John, Zachary Haas DPM and wife Melissa, Cezanne Haas Elias PhD, and husband Khoury, Dylann Haas, Chantay Sherrer, Kyle Sherrer, Elli Sherrer and Sophia Sherrer; she is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Nathan and Ava Lefkowitz, Mathew, Ciarra and Christopher Berry, Adelyn and Anabel Haas, and Cal and Duke Elias. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were also a very important part of her life. The family would also like to express their appreciation and respect for the excellent care she received at Elmcroft Senior Living Community over the last several years, where they truly became incorporated into the family. Gentiva Hospice made a peaceful passing possible for Jackie and her family. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of their choice. A family service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Park with Rabbi Harry Rosenfeld officiating.
