Jack R. Schneider, age 94, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 after a long life. He was born in Muskogee, OK on October 27, 1919 to Ralph and Myrtle (McVay) Schneider. He was a World War II Fighter Pilot assigned to the Second Squadron, 52nd Fighter Group, flying Spitfires and P-51 Mustangs in the Mediterranean Theater. He received the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He also served during the Korean War after World War II as part of his career in the USAF Reserves. He retired in 1960 at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Jack married Lowbyane "Sis" Rooker on September 10, 1944 - four days after he returned from World War II. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Texaco, Inc. for 31 years and retired in 1983 in Houston, TX where he was the Manager of National Accounts. Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ralph Schneider. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lowbyane "Sis" Schneider, two sons: Stephen Schneider and wife Peggy of Escondido, CA and Brian Schneider and wife Penny of Albuquerque, NM. He was very fond and proud of his two grandchildren, Carson Schneider and Kendall Schneider of Albuquerque. He has a niece, Lisa Downey and husband Mark; two great nephews Zaide Downey and Matthew Downey and a great niece Angela Downey, all of Jones, OK Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with military honors by the United States Air Force.
