Jack, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on June 9, 2021.
The love of his life Janice preceded him in death on October 9, 2017. Jack was born in La Junta, Colorado on November 23, 1931, to parents G. Ray and Cecil F. Miller. He had one sister, Florence, also deceased. He left four wonderful daughters, Lynette and husband Allen Darrow; Barbara and husband Marvin Procter, Kim and husband Paul Cook and Marcia and husband Rick DeCarli. He also leaves nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He attended High School and Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. He enjoyed sports and outdoor activities. After High School he enlisted in the Navy for four years and served as an Air Traffic Control Operator at Naval air stations in Cuba and Florida. After the Navy, he returned to school at Colorado State University and received a B.S. degree in Forest Range Management. He then entered the U.S. Forest Service and enjoyed a successful career for forty years. He retired from the Forest Service as Assistant Regional Forester for the Southwest Region. He was a lifetime member of the Society for Range Management and received an award for Sustained Lifetime Achievement.
Jack was a quiet man of faith who deeply loved his God, family and many friends. He truly enjoyed life and was always ready to lend a hand and help wherever he could. His influence in their lives will continue for years to come.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas. Interment will be in La Junta, Colorado.
