Jack William "J.W." McCloud, 41, a resident of Albuquerque flew to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, May 9, 2015 and is free and whole now in heaven. He is survived by his loving parents, Jack and Kathy McCloud; sister, Amy Kathleen LeBow and husband, Gavin; niece, Taylor Rose; nephews, Nico William and Jaxx Dylan; aunts, Clee Rodhus of Centerville, OH, Alice Osborn of Hunter, KY, Mildred Pruitt of Battle Creek, MI and Anna Moore of KY; uncles, Victor Montoya of Santa Fe, NM and family, Gilbert J. Montoya and wife, Betty of Santa Fe, NM and family, George F. Montoya and wife, Sue of Pueblo, CO, and family; and numerous other relatives and wonderful friends. J.W. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfonso and Lillian Montoya and Herbert and Roberta McCloud. He was born in 1974 in Roswell, NM and graduated from Capital High School in Santa Fe, Class of 1992 where he was active in soccer, basketball coached by Dennis Casados and baseball. J.W. was all state soccer center forward and all state baseball for his team and a very good basketball player. After graduation he received a scholarship in baseball to attend Cochise Jr. College in Douglas, AZ. J.W. also attended the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM and New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM where he was a left-handed pitcher like his father, who also graduated from Highlands University. He entered the United States Navy in August of 1997 where he proudly served on the Nimitz during the Persian Gulf War. He was very proud to play baseball for the United States Navy team as a pitcher. While on active duty and on leave visiting his parents J.W. was assaulted and the result was quadriplegia. He loved fishing, hunting, snow skiing, water skiing and anything to do with the outdoors. Jack William was a very kind and loving guy who will be deeply missed by his parents, sister, and all who knew him. Our loving thanks to his caregiver, Bo Popovich who was one of his best friends, never missing a day to care for him. She was much like a mother to our son. A loving thanks and a appreciation to Dr. Weiss, ICU specialist; Dr. O. Saenz, his primary Doctor from the Spinal Cord Unit. We will never forget you. Jack always felt "you could fix him"; Rodger Oase who was with us during the 16 year journey; Dr. Kurt Feilder who is now deceased; Dr. Jessica who helped J.W. in so many ways; and Margaret Wood, Pharmacist, We have a special place in our hearts for you. To all the angels (nurses), Shawnee, Kelly, Carolina, Mary, Melissa, Mark, Lily, Lee, Jacob and to the man who kept our son's room clean for him. We will forever be grateful. The care was exceptional in the M.I.C.U.. A special thanks to Congresswoman Michelle Grisham Lujan and her staff, John and Arturo. Last but not least, we would like to thank Stephen Arias, our cousin, for all of his help. God speed to all....the McCloud family with love. "Fly J.W. Fly!" Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Francis, 131 Cathedral Pl., Santa Fe, NM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elmo Montoya, his best friend, Phillip Fernandez, Francisco Cortez, John Montoya, Randy Montoya, Kevin Kahn, Michelle Montoya and Darren Casados. An eulogy will be delivered by Coach Dennis Casados. A reception will follow interment at 2841 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack William's name to the Carmelite Monastery, 49 Mount Carmel Rd. Santa Fe, NM 87505.
