Jack Stephen Jones

d. January 31, 2021

Jack Stephen Jones a devoted Father and Grandpa passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 surrounded by his family.  Jack was born December 17th, 1947 to Margaret E. Jones in Albuquerque NM where he lived all his life. Jack enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and was a dedicated Navy veteran who was proud to serve his country during the Vietnam War.  To this day he loved sharing his stories about his service on the flight deck of the USS Enterprise “The Big E” with all his friends and family.  Upon being honorably discharged from his service in the Navy he returned to Albuquerque to marry his first love, Sandra Jean Jones who preceded him in death on April 28th,1977.  Jack and Sandra had two sons, Jack II and Christopher.  Jack briefly remarried and had his daughter, Bobbijo.  Dad shared the rest of his days with Deena, who he loved dearly for nearly 40 years.

Jack and Deena were longtime members of the American legion post 99 where Jack continued to serve his community and honor the military.  He held many distinguished positions within the American legion both at the local and state level, serving proudly as the state Sergeant at Arms for the entire state of NM.  He was also a member of the Legion Riders, Chapter 22.

Jacks true passion was his family, his kid’s, and his grandchildren. He loved them deeply and would do anything he could to help support anyone in his family, even if that meant himself would have to go without.  Jack was a selfless man who gave his all to support his family and friends many of them whom he considered his family. He would never miss an event, game or even a practice if it involved his kids or grandchildren.  Jack was quite a presence too that could not be missed if you did not see him in the stands you heard him cheering loudly from some place in the park.  He volunteered his time to be the team dad and help in any way he could.  He would even make McDonalds make fresh warm cookies for his granddaughter, Mykayla everyday before practice.  Dad had a love for his motorcycle and would ride every chance he got, often participating in organized rides to benefit local veterans’ groups. Jack was an avid hunter where he spent many early mornings on the river with his son, Jack II and his grandsons Christopher and Daniel arguing about who could get the most ducks that day.  Dad always let them win or take credit for his shots, that made him the proudest to see his kids enjoying life and having fun.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Jones; his mom, Margaret Jones “Grandma Jones”; his sister, Barbara Jaramillo; and his grandson, Chris Jones “Bubba”.

Jack is survived by Deena; his children, Jack Jones and wife Gerri, Chris Jones and Wife Yvonne; and daughter, Bobbijo Jones and Jesus Valdes; his grandchildren, Mykayla Jones, Samantha Smith and her fiancé Daniel Garza, Daniel Smith; his great-grandchild, Joshua Garza; his brother, Rick Jones and wife Josie; nieces, Alisa and Therese Marie Jones, nephews, Rick and Ryan Jones, Natalie Thomas and her husband James; and nephews, Kenny and John Daniels; along with all their children as well as many cousins.

Jack was loyal friend a great father and grandpa or “The Godfocker” as Kayla would say, he was the true rock of our family that will be missed dearly.  Thank you, Dad, for being the Man, the Myth, the Legend we all looked to for strength and guidance, you will be missed.  Vaya Con Dios. We will meet again.
