Ismael Martinez

Age 92, was born and raised in New Mexico and passed away in May of 2012. Cremation has taken place and he along with his wife, Victoria M. Martinez, of 70 years, who passed away March 4, 2013, will be interned together. I.J. enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and spent most of his tour of duty on the USS Saratoga during WWII. After serving six years, he was discharged in 1947 from NAS Alameda, CA. He loved the area and decided to stay in San Francisco. He sent for Victoria to be his bride at that time. He was a successful Real Estate Agent in San Francisco and retired to a lovely home in Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe and later on to Albuquerque, NM since 1989. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Jose De La Luz Martinez and mother, Mary Ann Chavez; brothers, Daniel, Leo and Sam Martinez. He is survived by sisters, Edna Veit, Viola Gurule, Gladys and husband, Ron Cox, all from CA and many nieces and nephews. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 14, 2013, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11041 Indian School Road NE. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM, 87501, at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013. Funeral arrangements have been made with FRENCH - Lomas.
