Isaac Roy Griego

Isaac Roy Griego, 90, passed away peacefully in his home in Albuquerque on Friday, August 2, 2024 and is now resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father. 

He was born May 1, 1934 in Dixon, NM to Juan Armando and Manuelita Griego. After moving to Albuquerque, he met his beloved wife, Tarsila, and they were married in October 1954.

He is survived by his children, all of Albuquerque, Catherine Hernandez and husband Johnny, Cynthia Griego, Suzanne Slenes and husband John, Caroline Jehle and husband Lawrence; Grandchildren, Nicole Garcia and husband Matthew, Stephen, Lauren, and Megan Jehle; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Ashleigh Garcia, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 ½ years, Tarsila Griego; parents, Juan Armando and Manuelita Griego; brother Juan Armando Griego Jr.; sister Nancy Fresquez, and many brothers/sisters-in-law.

Roy graduated from the University of NM and enjoyed a career at Sandia National Laboratories as a contract auditor for 37+ years before retiring in 1994. He was fortunate to travel for work and had a passion for personal travel as well. 

Roy was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and woodworking, but the big love of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (gramps) and will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 beginning at 5:30 pm at FRENCH Funerals & Cremations – Lomas, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 pm, and Memorial Eulogy at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd, NE., Albuquerque, NM at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A Reception will be held at the hall at the Shrine of St Bernadette following Interment.
