JANNEY, IRWIN W
Age 85, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, September 30, 2012. Irwin was born in Kansas City, MO on March 3, 1927, the second son of William and Dorothy Janney. Irwin served in the Navy in WWII and in the Army in the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in 1952, and received his Master's Degree in Physics in 1953. The same year, he married Ruthann Greer who was also attending the University of Illinois. In 1954, the couple moved to Albuquerque where Irwin worked for Sandia Labs until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Ruthann Janney; sons, Mark Allen Janney and James Lee Janney; grandchildren, Jeffrey Janney and Rebecca Janney; great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Bella Janney; brother, Donald Janney; and nieces, Dawn Janney and Laurie McGavran. Irwin and Ruthann have been members of First Congregational Church, U.C.C. since 1955, where Irwin served on many committees and sang in the choir for over twenty years. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his family and many friends for his gentle reliability and ready willingness to help others. A Memorial Service will be held at Saturday, October 6, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at First Congregation Church, U.C.C., 2801 Lomas Blvd and Girard NE.
