Irene Maez

Irene Maez,  (aka Grandma and Tía), age 96, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on November 10, 2018.

Irene was the matriarch of the Santiago family, and her family was her passion and delight.  Her cooking was the way of her bringing family together, and her sense of humor was undeniably her best trait.  She always made us laugh; even in her last days.  Her memory will live forever in our hearts and we will love and miss her tremendously.

She is survived by her children, Tommy Maez, Jimmy Maez and his beloved wife, Terri, Veronica Aragon, and Audrey Sawaya.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick and Veronica (Winnie) Torres, Aaron Maez and his beloved wife, Angela, Joy Maez, Phillip and Jaime Rael, Amanda and Ricky Aragon, Courtney and Kylee Sawaya.  Last, she is survived by her great grandchildren, PJ and AliviaTorres, Ruben Maez, Delilah Pohl, Lorena Gallegos, Noah and Matthew Rael; and her puppy, Jasmine, aka, “Weedee, Weedee.”  Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Margarito Maez; her daughter, Margaret Torres; her son-in-law, Gene Torres; and her grandchildren, Jeffery and Dionne Maez.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 15, 2018, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd NE 87112.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE.
