Irene Isabel Hansen-Norton

Irene Isabel Hansen-Norton passed surrounded by her family and friends on February 15, 2016. Born November 20, 1934 in Springer, New Mexico to Gloria and J. Frank Trujillo, Irene grew up in Santa Fe, NM. She attended Loretto Academy in Santa Fe and graduated from St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS with a degree in Education. She taught school for two years in Leavenworth before moving to Albuquerque where she taught 26 more years. She remained in Albuquerque for 51 years where she raised her three children.
Irene was a member of the Sierra Vista Civitan Club, and Nine Holers Golf Club. She was an accomplished artist and traveled the world. She loved life and was always ready for a new adventure. She was a shining example of laughter and integrity. She was a devoted mother.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Christopher Chavez; husbands, Vernon Hansen and Robert Norton. She is survived by her three children, daughter Teresa Starr, son Don Slack and wife Heather Ingram, daughter Gina Encee and husband Joe Encee; six grandchildren, Jason and Noelle Bruno, Donnie Lee and Belle Slack, and Joseph and Elaine Encee; and one great-granddaughter, Adrienne Lewis; one sister, Rita Harvey; and two brothers, Enrique Trujillo and Edmundo Trujillo; and many nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held Friday, February 19th at 2:30 p.m. followed by a Mass at 3:00 p.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114.
