Irene J. Gonzales

Irene J. Gonzales, 83, Cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Irene was born on October 19, 1941, to Rafaelita and Joe Martinez in Gallup, New Mexico. Irene worked from the young age of 12 years old, cleaning homes for people. Later in life she worked for House Keeping at the Rio Rancho Inn for several years.

Irene was our Prayer Warrior, she believed and trusted in God, and put Him first. She read her Bible every day and was always praying for the family and anyone else she knew that needed it. She would take every opportunity to let others know about God's love. She trusted in Him as she received treatment for her autoimmune illness. People would tell her how she was a strong person and dealing so well. She would always answer by saying "I give my thanks to my God for he is the one keeping me well and giving me the strength." She was known for being a loving, giving, compassionate, and selfless person. She would put others before herself even in times when she did not feel well. Anytime she heard of someone needing help she would ask; how can we help them? One of the fun things she liked to do was going to play the slot machines at Santa Ana. She was a lucky person, as she would hit the bonus spins a lot on the very last spin.

She is survived by her children, Robert, Yvonne (George), Doris (Alex); grandchildren Ralph Jr, Angelica, Cynthia (Stephen), Jacob, George (Dianna), Veronica, Alexander, Brenda (Dominic), Rose (Adrian); great-grandchildren Abigail, Dominic, Mykala, Lawrence, and Jerimiah; sisters Betty, Kathy (Anthony), and Theresa; brothers Michael and David; son-in-law Ralph. She also leaves cherished nieces, and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her daughter Natalie, son Joey, mother Rafaelita, sisters Lillian, Nancy, and brother Bernie.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at French Westside. Interment will take place following the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
