Irene Coleman

Irene Coleman took a journey to the stars to be with the Lord and her loved ones on September 10, 2013. She was the fifth of nine children born to George Thomas and Goldie Gertrude Merricks in Baker, LA on March 24, 1925. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized. She attended Sacred Heart School and in her later years moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she worked and retired after 30 years from Elmendorf AFB. She leaves to rejoice at her Home Journey, three sisters, Olivia McFarland of St. Louis, MO, Ruby Green of Los Angeles, CA and Rose Abrams of Albuquerque, NM; one brother-in-law, Larry C. Abrams; many nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Delly Rooney. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at FRENCH - University. Cremation has taken place and remains will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
