Ida Martinez was born on Sunday, November 30, 1941, and went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ida leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Arthur Martinez; son, Clyde Martinez and wife, D-Anna of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Vickie and husband, George Garcia of Grants, New Mexico, Lorie Apodaca-Miller of Amarillo, Texas, and Christine and husband, Jerry Montano of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Johnny Torres, Jimmy Torres and wife, Barbara, and Mike Torres and wife, Linda; 11 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Torres; and brothers, Sammy Torres and Arthur Torres.
Ida was a beautiful person who loved life and was always ready for an adventure. She loved to travel and try new things. Spending time with family was always something important for her. She was everyone's biggest supporter and cheerleader. She was funny, generous, loving, kind, and a wonderful friend to everyone. Ida was the most loving grandma, and she always had time to share stories, play games, and teach. She always made everyone who came to visit feel welcomed in her home. She has left an imprint on everyone's life she came to know.
A Viewing will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at FRENCH- University. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH- University with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers Ida has requested that donations be made to The Door Christian Fellowship Church, to 6556 91st Place Lubbock, Texas 79424.
